ECE BLOCK

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Bonam Venkata Chalamayya Institute of Technology and Science was established in the year 2002. The Programme B.Tech (ECE) was duly approved by the AICTE, New Delhi and Government of Andhra Pradesh. It is initially affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad till 2008. Later it is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK), Kakinada.

The department is headed by Mr. B V Ramana, Professor a dynamic personality with a vast experience of 10 years. The department has 24 teaching faculty from ECE stream maintaining 1:14 staff and students ratio. The department is functioning with 24 staff members, which includes 3 Professors 6 Associate Professors and 15 Assistant Professors and also 6 Technical staff to support the students at Laboratories.

Till date, seven batches of students have completed B. Tech. degree with above 70 pass percentage. The department has well qualified and experienced faculty, good infrastructure and excellent placement records, and it has attracted both rural and urban students. The department focuses on quality teaching, training, good projects and research activity among staff and students. A number of FDPs like National level workshops, National level Student symposia and Seminars are conducted regularly to inculcate the research activity and expose the student community to external world. Our Alumni are spread all over the country and abroad which meet periodically .The department is offering B.Tech course with intake of 120 students and M.Tech with VLSI Design specialization with intake of 18 students. Department is supported by well-equipped labs, departmental library and E-Class room.

OUR STRENGTHS

  • The student association EleCSA, regularly conducts technical activities. Under EleCSA, department has released Technical magazines annually for the past two years.
  • It has a professional society (IETE Student forum) where more than 129 students are members and a number of activities are conducting regularly.
  • All the Computer labs are LAN connected with 10 Mbps internet connectivity with Wi-Fi environment.
  • With consistent motivation and care a number of students are pursuing higher studies in India and abroad.

Short Term Goals

  1. To strengthen the knowledge with qualified and experienced staff various positions.
  2. Conducting conferences and seminars at national and international level.
  3. Crafting a research center to facilitate the faculty members to pursue their higher studies leading to the doctoral degrees.
  4. To continue to organize annual student level seminars/paper presentations/project exhibitions for the benefit of the students at large.
  5. To get sponsorships from organizations for students and faculty projects.
  6. To arrange add-on-skills programmes for the students

Long Term Goals

  1. To improve the infrastructure to achieve R&D activities in full swing.
  2. To establish a product development center.
  3. To make the department strong with all teaching staff qualified with Doctorate degrees and specialized in different areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering.

  6. To have laboratories set up by industries and software organizations to start consultancy.
  7. To create an endowment fund to recognize and appreciate the services of faculty members and students.
